De-stressing Yoga December

Welcome December!

I got home from work last night and I have no idea why but I had no water. My first thought is the pipes are frozen.  But my house is relatively warm and my heat has been working.  Then my thoughts went to the water company having issues with their service.  I paid my bill so that wasn’t the issue.  So I said I would let it ride out until morning because it was after 10pm.  Nothing in my house had a water leakage or standing water anywhere so it wasn’t an emergency.  I get to work this morning to call the company and they are not open except for emergencies.  So I guess they will be hearing from me on Monday morning.  This company is new the last 2 years and I have to say they are not the best.  They are extremely expensive and my water has never been more rusty and I have a water softener.

With all this stress its nice to know I can do some yoga and relax.  That’s the one awesome thing about it.  I can pull out my mat and literally my stress melts away.  Unfortunately I am very tight today and my hamstrings and biceps femoris really didn’t want to help me out but this is the best picture I was able to take.  And yes I look like an elf because we have a holiday event tonight that I am helping cook in! 🙂

Todays Pose: Upavistha Konasana- seated wide-angle pose- sit with your legs apart as wide as you would like today.  Plant your sit bones firmly into the floor.  Inhale arms up and exhale hinge forward bringing your hands to where you want to.  I usually bring my forearms down to the floor and length back.  You may also grab your toes or reach them in front of you.  Stay here for a few breaths and then slowly press into the floor and lift yourself back up.  Repeat if you would like to.

What this works: piriformis, superior gemellus, obturator internus, inferior gemellus, biceps femoris, soleus, gastrocnemius, semitendinosus, gracilis, and the semimembranosus muscles.
