Last night we had our first annual cookie exchange. It went over very well and I have never seen so many cookies, in one place, in my life. All the cookies were amazing! There was such a variety and all were tasty! I’m not the only one that went home after eating cookies for dinner and went to bed with a tummy ache. Not to toot my own horn but I won best festive cookie with my Chocolate funfetti cookies! They were so “Funfetti!”
So what does that mean for today? Ironically it means supported shoulder stand! This pose happens to be today’s pose and it is also good for people with diabetes. After eating all those cookies, let’s keep this pose going all day! 😊 It is also the pose to help rid cellulite and vertigo because, after all, the sugar makes us dizzy! Lol This pose is amazing for your shoulders as long as they are strong enough for this posture. Also, I love to do this one when I’m having an “off” day because the blood going to my head helps to cheer me up.
Today’s pose: salamba sarvangasana- supported shoulder stand- start off on your back and raise your legs into the air. Bring your arms behind you with your hands supporting your low back. Do not turn your head while in this pose as the neck may be compromised. Point your toes high into the air and take nice deep breaths. Stay here for a few breaths and then slowly with control bring your back to the floor using your core muscles.
What this pose works: trapezius, triceps brachii, splenius capitis, splenius cervicis, levator scapulae, rhomboids, posterior deltoid, infraspinatus, and the rectus capitis posterior muscles
